About The Screening Room

The Screening Room helps people build a home theater that actually looks like the movies, without overspending or chasing the wrong specs. It is written by Dylan Pierce, a home-theater installer and calibrator who tunes the projectors and screens he reviews in real rooms.

We are different from most projector sites in two ways. First, we are independent: we install and calibrate this gear and rank by what looks good on screen, not by who pays the most. Second, we lead with the truth that light control and the right screen matter more than raw specs. A modest projector in a dark room beats a flagship fighting daylight, and we say so.
